Where to start…
2017, I want to firstly thank you for your blessings in disguise, your bitter – sweet moments, and strengthening tasks.
I entered the year naïve, naïve to presuming everything was going to fall into place for me, to be perfect. But truthfully, I learnt that nothing this year came easy. I had to put in the work, the effort and love into everything from my relationships, education to my career.
This year, I believe was the biggest stepping stone towards finding myself, and my true appreciation for everything I’ve been given. From minor steps of broadening my knowledge of the world, to paying a little more attention to the things that REALLY matter.
For many, it seems 2017 showed the true colours of individuals. I’ve lost people, in physical form to a better place, and also lost those who simply serve no purpose in my life anymore. But I’ve come to be okay with that, and trust that there is a plan for me and the people that are meant to be on my journey with me. Accepting how people will come and go, and the only dependence you should have – is on yourself.
Family means more than ever to me after this year, and after losing a couple vital members, to gaining new life and a new generation – I am so eternally grateful for the family I was blessed with. So thank you, to my family, who never fail to love me unconditionally, inspire and motivate me to be a better person every day. No matter how far our branches grow and turn, we all know where our root is.
And to the friends that have stuck by my intensity. Thank you, no matter if I’ve known you 2 weeks, or 2 years – I love you all so much, and am so blessed by your influence. I met some of the best people I’ve ever met this year, and you know who you are – I’m so grateful for our paths crossing. We’ve clicked in an instant, and established a friendship and respect that I know will last.
My boyfriend, I am so lucky to see in retrospect the challenges we have been thrown this year, to come out the other side so much stronger. I didn’t realise the impact your presence has on my own strength, and how you support me and my journey every day in one small way or another.
My work has brought me endless opportunities and memories that I won’t ever forget. I’ve travelled to places I wouldn’t have thought I would have by now, met people I wouldn’t have dreamt of meeting, and worked and established relationships with companies and brands I used to spend my first wage packets on.
So this is thanks to 2017, for being the most challenging, but blessed year of my life to date. I’m grateful for your lessons, and everyone you’ve given me.
And thanks to you all in my life, whom support, motivate, inspire and bless me every day. I know each and every one of you will have an amazing year to come.
